Minnesota sits at the convergence of three major North American biomes: the eastern deciduous forest, the tallgrass prairie, and the boreal forest. The Boundary Waters region in the northeast is true boreal taiga — spruce, birch, and aspen over a carpet of Vaccinium and Labrador tea.
