Native Plant Nurseries in West Virginia

West Virginia is the most heavily forested state east of the Mississippi — more than 78% of its land is forested, primarily with central Appalachian hardwoods including red oak, tulip poplar, sugar maple, and black cherry. The state's rugged topography and relative inaccessibility have preserved some of the most intact mixed mesophytic forest in the eastern US, and West Virginia nurseries are an important source of locally adapted Appalachian native plant stock.
